Serena Walker

Associate Psychologist

Serena believes that every person has the power within to make the changes they want to see in their lives. It is just that sometimes they need help finding that power. Her goal is to assist clients to find their own way to living a rich, full and meaningful life whilst acknowledging that there are going to be times when this is very difficult and times of pain and suffering. She believes therapy can be a little like this also, sometimes it is vibrant, rich and full and at other times charged with uncomfortable feelings, such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, loneliness and helplessness. However, research has shown that therapy can have significant benefits for those that engage in it.

She is experienced in working with clients who have a history of trauma and abuse and/or are having issues with depression, anxiety, worry, grief and loss, posttraumatic stress disorder, phobias, or relationship difficulties. She works with adults and couples using a range of therapeutic modalities, in particular Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-focused Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
